HIGHS, LOWS and UNUSUAL BEHAVIORS

This week went by so quickly! From wedding plans...to adoption details...to normal life-I have found myself staring into space more times than I would like to admit! It's a bit overwhelming, but also SO exciting!!! Here are some of my highs, lows and unusual behaviors.

HIGHS - I went to visit Lindsay at the school where she is student teaching this fall. It was great to visualize where she is spending most of her day. There were no students there at the time, but it was fun anyway. We went to dinner at Old Chicago. I don't know if I had ever been there, but the food was GREAT! We spent the entire time talking about the wedding. I don't think that two seconds went by without words being spoken. There is so much to talk about and decide! Our conversation covered everything from wedding attendants... to dresses... to colors... to reception details... to where to live. I went home with a warm fuzzy feeling and lots to think about. It was definitely a high.

Today was our last Sunday before we go to pick up our new kids. Allen and I sat down as the service started. As Stephanie came to sit next to me, I motioned to her that there was a vacant seat next to some of her friends. She leaned over to say that she wanted to sit next to us because it was our last Sunday together before our family grows. Just a small thing...something I would definitely think about, but it meant a lot to me that she was thinking along those lines too. Another high...

LOWS - I went to Target this week to pick up a few things unrelated to the adoption. Somehow, I found myself in the boys clothing section. All of the sudden it hit me! Bang! Right there in the boys section, I started to feel very emotional and anxious about the week ahead. I tried to find a few sweatshirts and pants for the airplane ride home, but I was paralyzed with indecision. I just stood there looking and...looking some more. I walked out of there with ONE shirt for Rodrigo and a dazed look on my face. The clerk asked if I had found everything I was looking for. I lied and said, "Yes, thank you." That was the low for me that day.

UNUSUAL BEHAVIORS - Wednesday morning I woke up, made my way to the bathroom (as I usually do), hopped in the shower and started to get ready for the day. As I walked past the clock, I noticed that it read 1:45 a.m. OH MY! Evidently, I am preoccupied with life right now and have confused my days with my nights. Oh well, I climbed back into bed and waited for my alarm to go off at 6 a.m. Odd behavior.

As I was walking into church today, I checked my watch to see how late I was... I pulled up my sleeve only to find that I had put TWO wrist watches on instead of the normal ONE. OH MY!! What is happening to me?? Very odd behavior.

Oh Mary that is hilarious (about the watches and getting up at 1:45pm) Your life is crazy right now, so you can be glad you have many excuses for the behavior.

I read about these coming days ahead with the kids coming and Lindsay getting married and I've just found myself so tearful reading your blog! (not bad tears!) But just so excited and blessed by your family and this journey you are embarking on. Thanks for sharing your heart - its fun to read about your processes and I'm anxiously "waiting" for the rest of your family to soon join you. What a gift you are giving to them, and I have a feeling it will also be a gift to you, Allen and the girls in return as the years go on.

Haha, oh mom... you are so silly. I think your odd behaviors are justified, though, considering how many other things are on your mind. :) Love you!
